Lord Desborough and the National Trust

William Grenfell, Lord Desborough, was a great Victorian amateur sportsman who went on to stage the Olympic Games at White City in August 1908.  He was chairman of the Thames Conservancy Board for 35 years and oversaw many important improvements to the river.  Sandy Nairne CBE FSA was appointed Deputy Chair of the National Trust in 2022.
